Catherine Ford is a British actress born in Bloomsbury. After her father's departure from the household, the actress was raised up by her mother godparents, and grandmother. When she was a young girl, she battled an obsessive-compulsive disorder and suffered anxiety linked to the word association. Ford's love for acting grew when she was young. She joined at the National Youth Theatre. Ford was accepted to Sylvia Young Theatre School but after one week decided she didn't fit in. Ford returned to Central School of Speech and Drama and, after the fourth time she applied she was eventually admitted. Shaun Dingwall would play Pete Tyler as a regular character in Doctor Who. Ford graduated in 1993 but at the time she was already making her television debut in an episode from 1991 from Surgical Spirit; she adopted the name of her professional "Catherine Tate". Tate was seen in television programmes like The Bill, Men Behaving Badly, and London's Burning during the Nineties. Alongside her usual stage work, Tate was a part of with the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2000-2001. Tate was soon recognized for her stand-up comedy, that were added to her repertoire in 1996.
